wait, who is yumami

A very good fungus

Yumami (that’s yum + umami — the fifth taste) has been making human food better for about 5,000 years — she raises your bread and brews your beer when she's on the clock. Our Yumami is off duty: grown on molasses, gently dried, and fully deactivated, so all that's left is flavor, protein, and vitamins. You may know her by her street name: nooch.

She's real

Saccharomyces cerevisiae, an actual single-celled organism — the little bud on her side is how she makes more of herself. The character on the label is traced from a real microscope photo.

B12 + protein

Fortified with the vitamin plant-based eaters get lectured about, plus complete protein with all nine essential amino acids. In a shaker, not a capsule.

Lives on the counter

Flip-top sifter cap, parmesan behavior. Salt and pepper have had the table to themselves long enough.
